The Mayo Clinic uses one of the most cutting-edge methods of healthcare delivery available today. The Mayo Clinic launched the Mayo Clinic Care Network (MCCN) in 2011 in response to the rapidly changing healthcare landscape (Wald et al., 2018), and it has only grown since then. Because of their formal and widespread use of cross-continent collaboration, the Mayo Clinic is considered groundbreaking (Wald et al., 2018). The Philippines, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates were among the 45 members of the MCCN as of 2017. These collaborators were spread across 35 different states in the United States (Wald et al., 2018). The MCCN is new, but not because of its global reach. It is considered revolutionary because healthcare teams and providers from anywhere in the world can collaborate on a case, allowing an MCCN doctor to use their best resources regardless of location. Providers can eConsult an expert on a case without the expert having to travel or the patient having to seek care elsewhere (Wald et al., 2018). Providers can join eBoards, which bring MCCN specialists together to discuss specific topics on a larger scale (Wald et al., 2018). Patients can get reliable information whenever and wherever they need it thanks to the Ask Mayo Expert feature, which makes Mayo Clinic expertise available to them via the internet (Wald et al., 2018). Travel costs almost nothing when teams and patients are brought together via technology. All of these factors work together to create a vast network of highly cooperative professionals with mobilized resources, increasing the potential to provide cutting-edge care when and where the patient needs it the most.
Research an organization that uses an innovative model of care. How does this innovative model affect interprofessional collaboration? How might this model contribute to the delivery of cost of effective health care? Make sure to identify the organization and model in your response.
Re: Topic 5 DQ 1
The Mayo Clinic remains one of the most innovative health-care delivery systems in the world today. The Mayo Clinic launched their Mayo Clinic Care Network (MCCN) in 2011 in response to the rapidly changing healthcare landscape (Wald et al., 2018), and it has only grown since then. The Mayo Clinic is regarded as innovative due to their formal and widespread use of cross-continent collaboration (Wald et al., 2018). As of 2017, the MCCN had 45 members, including the Philippines, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates (Wald et al., 2018). However, international locations are not what distinguishes the MCCN. It is considered innovative because providers and healthcare teams can collaborate on a case from anywhere in the world, allowing an MCCN physician to use their best resources regardless of location. eConsult allows providers to consult an expert on a case without physically relocating the expert or forcing the patient to seek care elsewhere (Wald et al., 2018). Providers can also participate in eBoards, which bring together experts from across the MCCN to discuss specific cases on a larger scale (Wald et al., 2018). The Ask Mayo Expert feature puts Mayo Clinic expertise in the hands of patients through the internet, allowing them to get reliable information when and where they need it (Wald et al., 2018). The cost of travel is nearly eliminated by connecting teams and patients via technology. All of these components work together to create a large network of highly collaborative experts with mobilized resources, enhancing the ability to provide cutting-edge care when and where the patient requires it the most.

Hello ,
I agree that Mayo Clinic is one of the healthcare organizations that has successfully incorporated technological innovations to increase collaboration. This massive healthcare system has well-established networks in more than 140 countries and 50 states in the United States. With an annual patient load of over one million, this extensive coverage necessitates improved technological innovations that promote timely and effective patient care. Among the clinic’s 65,000 employees, there are various specialties that collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to provide quality care. Dr. William J. Mayo, the organization’s founder, saw clinical collaboration as the most efficient and effective way to provide quality and timely care to patients.

Re: Topic 5 DQ 1
Envision Healthcare’s evolution Health program focuses on providing a better home care experience for patients who have recently been discharged from the hospital. Evolution Health’s mission statement states that they “focus on hiring compassionate, highly experienced clinicians and empowering them with evidence-based clinical protocols, resulting in better outcomes, fewer re-hospitalizations, and higher patient satisfaction” (Evolution Health, 2020). This organization takes pride in providing the best possible care to their patients in a home care setting by collaborating with hospitals and the patients’ primary care providers. Patients with high-risk Medicare can benefit from lower 30-day re-admission rates as a result of this collaboration (Roepers et al, 2017). Because all members of the team work together for the benefit of the patients, this innovative model has an impact on interprofessional collaboration. This organization has a medical command center (MCC) and a mobile integrated team (MIT) that are both available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to coordinate resources and manage the patient’s health. The ability to treat and manage patients via telemedicine can reduce the overall cost of long-term admissions and potentially re-admissions for more complex recurring medical issues.
