NU-664B Week 9 Assignment 2: Alzheimer CME

Reflection of the CNE

In primary care training classes, the practical advice for prompt and accurate Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis is to treat cognitive impairment. The continuing nursing education session helped me understand various aspects of prompt diagnosis and treatment of AD (Liss et al., 2021; Atri, 2019). In order to improve a patient’s quality of life, address modifiable risk factors and causes of the disorder, and implement a treatment plan that prevents additional medical and social crises that are likely to develop in the future, the training course teaches some critical aspects of the diagnosis, treatment, and management of Alzheimer’s. The session allowed me to learn the significance of early diagnosis in AD, signs and symptoms of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), current biomarkers for AD diagnosis, and the cognitive evaluation tools. I have learned the accurate way of classifying Alzheimer’s disease and the necessary evaluation tools needed to identify and diagnose mild cognitive impairment. I felt that the CNE was necessary because improving competency is critical for improving primary care and reducing errors.
